Rayhan Agroentreprise

Folo, Sotouboua Prefecture, Togo8.93°N 0.70°ESince 2026

Rayhan is a farm I am building on family land at Folo, in central Togo. Ginger is the main crop.

The idea started with a price. Ginger prices in Togo rose sharply, and supply did not catch up. Togo also buys much of its ginger, onions and garlic from abroad. Rayhan is my attempt to grow more of it at home, and to learn what it takes to run a farm that pays its workers, reaches buyers and covers its costs.

The first year is small on purpose: about 2.5 acres (one hectare) of ginger, about 1.9 acres of yam starts, and small onion and garlic trials. The farm is mostly rain-fed, with one borehole for dry spells.

We have the land. The next step is water: drilling and testing a borehole and building the basic infrastructure. I am raising money for that proof stage now. I plan to publish the results, from water tests to yields and costs, so nearby farmers can use them too.

I finish my degree in January 2027 and then move into this work full time, so land, water and buyers are settled before the first planting.
